The story begins, as many romances do, in France. Yet, in some ways it is an American tale. The tale of 2 immigrants, a story filled with the thrill, the inventive energy of the early car age, and a tale of our time, our chance happenings and dogged analysis. The year was once 1936, and the French cosmetics king Gui De LaRouche had just attened the sector premier of the movie The Clearing Cloud. Watching the movie, he used to be particularly inspired by means of an automobile pushed via the leading man. After making several inquiries, he discovered that the auto's stunning body was once the advent of Emmet - Armand Coachworks of Green Brier, Pennsylvania in the Unites States.
Gui De LaRouche had at all times believed that a man should succumb to his passions. So he commissioned Emmet - Armand to create an exotic bodied coupe on a Duesenberg Model J chassis. The new car would be a gift for his lover, a beauty named Simone.
Emmet- Armand took 3 years in making the auto - with the supervision of LaRouche's assistant, Antoine St. Claire. When the masterpiece used to be whole, plans were made to unveil the strange car at the 1939 World's Fair. But earlier than they did, they intended to deliver it first to Paris for LaRouche's approval.
1939 was once a year fraught with risk, and war clouds have been collecting ominously over Europe. When Emmet arrived in Paris with the car, he found a sour love triangle between LaRouche, Simone and St. Claire becoming moderately sinister. LaRouche had solid papers naming St. Claire as a traitor; he had threatened Simone with the same; and he had evicted Emmett from his property, taking possesion of the auto with out a intention of paying for it. Later, Emmett and St. Claire would join forces to scouse borrow again the car and rescue Simone. The plan was once to hide the automobile till it could be safely transported again to the United States.
Back in America, Armand recieved a terse telegram from Emmett pointing out that he was in search of secure garage for the Coupe Simone and that his return would be not on time. But there the story seems to end, for each Emmett and the car were lost once they left Paris. Armand rushed to Europe to search out his friend and partner, but he too disappeared. The automobile was last observed on the Kolb Showroom of New York in 1940.Specifications Coupe Simone Engine 420 CID Inline Eight Horsepower 265 Transmission Warner; 3 forward speeds + reverse Wheelbase 153.5" Long Production Years 1939 Cars Produced 1 Chassis Price 00 Coachbuilder's Price Unknown
